5258 Playmobil RC Freight Train Battery

This one was a bit more tricky. Looking at the Playmobil manual it didnt look like there is even an individual part number listed for the battery holder. It still uses AA batteries but this time 6 instead of the 4 found in the 7829 battery holder.

There is another key difference. The 7829 battery had the polarity of the cells arranged in a standard format. This means that you could in theory take an off the shelf 4xAA battery holder, wrap a few rubber bands around it and insert it into the trains battery compartment to get you up and running. There are youtube video tutorials showing you how to do this.

The 5258 Freight train battery is different. For some reason, the polarity is reversed on the OEM playmobil battery contacts when compared to an off the shelf 6xAA battery holder. This requires modifying the battery contacts. The surrounding case is of course different too. As much as I would have liked to print my logo in place, there simply isnt room in the battery compartment for a top plate - hence the sticker label.

What looked like a simpler project ended up being more difficult but after some fine tuning, Iā€™m delighted to offer them for sale.

The first four are already out in the wild and I look forward to receiving feedback.
